This World Donut Day OMG Decadent Donuts is raising some ‘dough’ and lifting awareness about Australia’s mental fitness charity, Gotcha4Life, by donating $5 for every 12-pack of donuts sold between 7 and 9 June.

Gotcha4Life’s vision of zero suicides has never been more important. Funds raised by OMG! Decadent Donuts this World Donut Day from 7th to 9th June will go to Gotcha4Life to help raise funds for them to deliver presentations, workshops and sustainable training programs which help build emotional muscles, strengthen social connectedness and encourage help-seeking behaviour in individuals, families and communities to create a future free of suicide.

Gus Worland, Founder of Gotcha4Life saidWe champion the idea of mental fitness, building the social and emotional muscles and the resilience required to deal better with the challenges that life throws at us.

Zero suicide, that’s our vision. Simple as that. I want a society in which everyone has a Gotcha4Life friend. That go-to person who you can open up to and rely on and talk to about anything. A world where we seek help when life gets challenging. Where we can build open and honest relationships and feel comfortable expressing ourselves, no matter what.

We’re super happy that OMG! Donuts are raising some ‘dough’ for us as they celebrate World Donut Day, we hope people will buy a donut for themselves and one for a mate and have a chat about their feelings.”

The Gotcha4Life message resonated with everyone at OMG Decadent Donuts. Director David Moore said “When World Donut Day started way back in 1938 it was created to help others.  Like many things that day has morphed into something more commercial.  Helping others is firmly entrenched in the DNA of OMG! and we want to always be able to give back.

The statistics surrounding mental wellness in Australia are trending in the wrong direction. So we thought – well, we’ve got donuts and they make people feel good, and we’re in so many locations around Australia, let’s see how we can help get this message out there further and raise some funds and awareness to help this amazing charity”.

How are the funds raised used? Funding educational programs to schools, sports clubs, workplaces and community groups.  Funds are also utilised for free online resources like thementalfitnessgym.org, where individuals can strengthen their emotional muscles to get through life’s ups and downs.

So buy a box of donuts, share them with family, friends, colleagues or teammates and while you’re enjoying them, have a chat about feelings and how to build your and their mental fitness.
