As we celebrate International Women’s Day 2026, we proudly acknowledge the extraordinary role women play in small businesses across Australia and throughout the world.

From start-ups to established enterprises, women entrepreneurs continue to drive innovation, foster growth, and shape the economic future of our communities.

At OMG! Decadent Donuts, women are not just part of our story — they are the backbone of it!

Today, at our HQ in Brisbane, the women outnumber the men with 70% female and 30% male, that’s not to devalue the amazing men in our HQ team, though; it just is what it is.

The real numbers stack up in the independent ownership of around 80% of OMG! businesses are either wholly or partly women-owned. That’s not by design — it’s by capability. Women are choosing business ownership as a pathway to independence, flexibility, financial growth and community impact.

These powerhouse women are often balancing family, community commitments, study or other work alongside their businesses. They are resilient. They are ambitious. They are community-minded. And they are, quite simply, Wonder Women.

Collectively, our women business owners tell us how much they value the sense of connection they’ve built in their own patch of Australia, New Zealand and Singapore; how their confidence has grown; how empowered they feel; how business ownership has improved their work–life balance; and how it has strengthened their families — financially and emotionally.

For many with children, the opportunity to model entrepreneurship firsthand and demonstrate that goals can be achieved is one of the most rewarding aspects of the journey.

Inspire Inclusion – The 2026 Conversation

The spirit of International Women’s Day continues to centre around inclusion, equity and opportunity — values deeply aligned with the OMG! mission.

At OMG!, inclusivity truly is our middle name.

We have created a product that can be enjoyed by almost everyone. Our donuts are free from the most common allergens, are vegan, and are Halal and Kosher certified.

What does that mean in real life?

It means that at an office morning tea, school fete, festival, sporting carnival or community event, everyone can share the same treat — regardless of dietary requirements.

That’s inclusion in action.

The Rise of Women in Small Business

The growth of women in business is not anecdotal — it is measurable.

Across Australia, women now represent approximately one-third of small business operators, and participation continues to trend upward year on year. In New Zealand, women’s business ownership is also steadily rising.

But at OMG!, that number is significantly higher — at 80%.

This reflects something powerful: when business models are accessible, flexible and supportive, women step forward.

Driving Growth, Innovation and Community Impact

Women entrepreneurs are not simply participating in business — they are leading change.

Research consistently shows that diverse leadership teams outperform their peers. Women bring collaborative leadership styles, innovation, adaptability and strong community focus — qualities that are particularly powerful in small business.

Within the OMG! licensed business model, revenue stays within local communities. That means women-led businesses are strengthening regional economies, supporting local events, employing local people and contributing to social cohesion.

The ripple effect is real.

Overcoming Barriers, Creating Opportunity

While progress has been significant, women in business still face challenges — including access to funding, confidence barriers, and balancing caregiving responsibilities.

International Women’s Day is both a celebration and a reminder: when women are supported with the right systems, mentorship and community, extraordinary things happen.

At OMG!, our lifetime mentorship model and supportive network help remove many of those barriers, creating a pathway into business ownership that is practical, achievable and empowering.
