Raising Funds for Gotcha4Life

OMG Decadent Donuts has partnered with Australia’s mental fitness charity, Gotcha4Life, bringing a new fundraising campaign called ‘Bronut Day’.

The idea of Bronut Day is to bring donuts to schools, universities, clubs, businesses and community groups in the spirit of mateship, raise funds for Gotcha4Life and bring awareness to the importance of mental fitness and suicide prevention.  The donut is the conversation starter to a potentially meaningful conversation.

With emergency services being called every 28 seconds due to attempted suicides and rates topping 65,000 attempts per year, Gotcha4Life’s vision of zero suicides has never been more important. Funds raised through Bronut Days will support Gotcha4Life to deliver presentations, workshops and sustainable training programs that create meaningful mateship, build emotional muscle and strengthen the social connection in local communities to end suicide.

The campaign encourages businesses, schools, universities, sporting clubs and community groups around Australia to host their own Bronut Day, on a day of their choosing, with OMG Donuts providing a hefty discount to enable organisations to fundraise the optimum amount for Gotcha4Life.

You can register here to host your own Bronut Day at your organisation.

Gus Worland, Founder of Gotcha4Life, said,We champion the idea of mental fitness, building the social and emotional muscle, and the resilience required to deal better with the challenges that life throws at us.

Zero suicide that’s our vision. Simple as that. I want a society in which everyone has a Gotcha4Life mate. That go-to person who you can open up to and rely on and talk to about anything. A world where we seek help when life gets challenging. Where we can build open and honest relationships and feel comfortable expressing ourselves, no matter what.

It’s wonderful to think that an idea thought up by some students and their teacher at Parramatta Marist to raise awareness about mental fitness and suicide prevention is now being picked up and rolled out nationally by OMG Donuts”.

The Gotcha4Life message resonated with us at OMG Decadent Donuts. Director David Moore said “The statistics surrounding suicide in Australia are trending in the wrong direction. We’d heard about an initiative thought up by Parramatta Marist High School  whose clever teachers and students had developed their own Bronut Day a couple of years ago, which was all about friendship and being there for each other.  And we thought – well, we’ve got donuts, and we’re in so many locations throughout Australia, so with Parramatta Marist High School’s blessing, we thought, let’s see how we can help get this message out there further and raise some funds and awareness.”

FAQs

When is Bronut Day?

It’s not one special date.  You can have a Bronut Day on any day that you like and that the OMG Decadent Donut licensee is also available.

How do I organise to have a Bronut Day?

Just register with Gotcha4Life via contact vanessa.orr@gotcha4life.org  And contact your nearest OMG Decadent Donut supplier – Click here for locations.

Is Bronut Day just for boys/men?

No, like our donuts – it’s inclusive for all!  The idea started at a boys’ school, and we wanted to honour the kids and teachers who came up with the idea.

How are the funds raised?

Your OMG Decadent Donut licensed supplier will give you a hefty discount.  The RRP for the donuts is usually $3.50.  You donate directly to Gotcha4Life, the difference between the cost of the donuts and how much you sell them for.  Gotcha4Life will provide you with a tax receipt.

What will the funds raised go towards?

Funding educational programs (link https://www.gotcha4life.org/programs) to organisations such as businesses, schools, universities, clubs and community groups.
